“The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow.”

Why the RHSA Student Taste of Soul Long Beach Celebration Matters

The Long Beach Unified School District has made a clear commitment to centering Black students through its Equity Policy and Black Student Achievement Initiative, affirming that race should never predict success. The RHSA Taste of Soul embodies this vision by creating space during Black History Month to honor the past, celebrate the present, and invest in the future.

When we recognize and uplift Black history and culture, we strengthen the entire fabric of our community. This event provides our students with a culturally affirming experience that builds identity, pride, and belonging—essential ingredients for academic and personal success.

Together We Can Support Student Success

We are seeking to raise $10,000 to cover this year’s event expenses and to sustain ongoing BSU programming and support that nurtures Black student success at Renaissance High. Click the button to explore sponsorship levels and perks for giving a tax-deductible nonprofit contribution.

About the RHSA Sankofa Parent Group
